A New Home

Iā€™m very pleased to announce today that today Skatetown.org and CK schools signed around an agreement for a Skating Facility at the Jenne-Wright building in Silverdale. This lease represents countless hours of work from both Central Kitsap Schools and Skatetown.org and marks a major milestone towards keeping Kitsap County Skating. Starting late this month, the plan is to begin operations for team skaters with community outreach and charitable partners to follow quickly. Over the week of Nov 18, we will be addressing necessary improvements and loading in skates, floor (sport court for now), P.A., etc.

All of us here all very excited to have a new (albeit temporary) home for the kids and families of Kitsap County and the Olympic Peninsula to skate. The discussion with CK schools started back in July when we bid on the old CK High gym floor and has been just around the corner for several months now. There is still a long road to go in getting a new dedicated home that can facilitate full rink operations, but for today this is a major step in the right direction. We hope to see you on skates again soon.

We have a non commercial clause in the lease. The first priority has been the clubs. We are working on finding a path via community outreach and fundraising to support non club skaters so stay tuned.
