The Skatetown.org initiative is run out the Sk8town Stars 501c3 charitable not for profit. The Facilities committee is operating as umbrella for all skating that was displaced from the loss of Skateland in Bremerton, WA. The committee has cross discipline representation and a community member at large attempting to represent the entire spectrum of skating locally. Our stated goal is “Keep skating alive and well in Kitsap County”. The extra work to form under a not for profit is to make sure its sustainable for future generations.
Nothing can replace the memories our community has made at Skateland. For 35 years Skateland has provided Kitsap County with a place to have fun and compete in roller sports at all ages.
Schools use skating as a great fundraiser and provide classmates time to socialize outside of school. Decades of hosting tournaments and parties will be brought to an abrupt end this July if we don’t act. The loss of our only roller skating facility in Kitsap County would hugely impact our youth, adults, athletes, schools, families, and our community as a whole. A group of skater representatives from multiple disciplines and the community are trying to keep skating alive in Kitsap County.
