Floor Removal Moving Forward! (Day 2)

At the end of the day today the floor had the first partial row and second full row fully panel-ized. The hired help we brought in today to with stripping firing had mixed results and won’t be a repeat. The workload was just too different from cutting and wound up being more stop/start management overhead then it was worth assuming we get enough Saturday volunteers this work will be pushed into the load process (read: sign up to volunteer). Today I spent most of the day running the saw with a big thick blade that didn’t have any catastrophic failures with the staples but was slow and required a lot of physical energy to move saw through the wood.

CKHS old bleachers that are believed to be an easy mod to make code compliant.

Today also concluded the negotiations with Rose City Rollers about the bleachers (via committee) and they choose not pursue getting them (which is kind of a relief). There was a bit of horse trading on the table in regards to the sport court so keep your eyes pealed for an official announcement now that the deal/contract is closed (yes we got a sport court). If anybody knows of a good home for these please reach out (shawn@skatetown.org), they are presently scheduled to be scrapped/sent for recycling. Through the research conducted the only issue with them is the end railing would need to be filled in (very easy modification). Skate-town doesn’t have the space for them and there are 6 units of this type and they retail for ~20k+ per-section new. It would be a huge win-win if anybody wants them or knows of an organization that can put them to good use.

Packing slip from 1994

Found an interesting tidbit of history that both served as a bit of a history lesson and confirmed that we don’t really need to be on the lookout for hazardous materials. Looks like this Gym floor was put down in 1994 based upon this packing slip we found under row B.

Tomorrow should be a nose to the grind stone kind of day to push us well past the 1/3 point on the cut we were at EOD today
